1:72 Paint Masks For Mil Mi-24 Tiger Camo With Canopy And Wheels Included

A flying infantry fighting vehicle

The Mil Mi-24 is unusual in that it did not settle for the role of a gunship. Behind the armored cockpits of the pilot and the weapons operator there is a cabin for a squad of troops, so the machine could put an assault party down and support it with fire a moment later. The short wings carry pods and anti-tank missiles and at the same time unload the main rotor in fast flight. For its unmistakable silhouette it earned the nickname Crocodile.

The tiger finish and what goes with it

The set is prepared for the striking tiger scheme, that is the striped finish that appears on machines presented at the gatherings of units carrying a big cat in their badge. Besides the stripes, the package also holds pieces for the glazing of both cockpits and for the landing gear wheels, so it covers the whole model without the need to buy anything else.

Where even good film reaches its limit

The undoubted advantage is that the stripes do not have to be applied like decals. On the rounded side of the fuselage a large decal area would fold into wrinkles, and over the riveting it would have to be softened at length. A sprayed surface knows nothing of this problem and follows the surface perfectly.

The limit lies with doubly curved surfaces. The nose of the fuselage and the engine covers arch in two directions at once and a flat piece of film cannot be laid on them without a wrinkle. The answer is to cut the piece into wedges and let the individual tongues overlap slightly, or to cover the transition with a little liquid mask.

Expect a striped scheme to mean several sprayings one after another. Each shade calls for the film to be laid separately and the previous coat has to be perfectly cured before anything is stuck onto it.
