A photo-etched set from the Czech maker Eduard for superdetailing a model of the PT-109 patrol torpedo boat in 1:72 scale. It adds fine metal elements such as railings, grilles, deck fittings, brackets and further details that cannot be rendered faithfully in plastic.
PT-109 was an American Elco-type patrol torpedo boat of the Second World War, deployed in the Pacific. It went down in history after it was sunk by a Japanese destroyer in 1943; its commander at the time was Lieutenant John F. Kennedy, later president of the United States. It was a fast wooden craft armed with torpedoes and machine guns.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife, bend the railings and grilles on a photo-etch bending tool and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Degrease the brass before painting and apply a primer. The fine deck details come out with a final pass of a wash and a dry brush.
This is an add-on set, not a stand-alone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
