A plastic kit of a heavy artillery equipment in 1:72 scale. The model captures the Br-2 gun of 152 mm caliber on a tracked carriage, that is, a weapon whose dimensions set it apart from ordinary artillery and which makes itself known in a display case even in a small scale. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Br-2 was a Soviet heavy gun of 152 mm caliber taken into service in the second half of the 1930s. It was designed as a weapon of the artillery of the high command, that is, as a means allotted as needed to particular operations, and its task was fire at long ranges, the destruction of fortifications and the fight against enemy artillery. Because of the weight of the barrel and of the whole equipment it was given a tracked carriage, which an artillery tractor pulled into the firing position. It took part in the fighting of the Second World War in limited numbers and belongs rather among the less known types of Soviet artillery armament.
With artillery models in 1:72 it pays to work slowly, as the parts are small and easily lost. Before gluing, clean every part of the remains of the sprue gates and try the mating surfaces dry, especially on the carriage and the running gear, where an inaccuracy shows as a crooked stance of the whole equipment. Finish and paint the undercarriage and the lower part of the carriage before you close them in with the upper structure. The model looks good with a uniform base coat supplemented by a dark wash into the recesses of the carriage and a dry brush on the edges. Suggest dust and mud with pigments from the bottom upwards, so that they look natural. On such a weapon the barrel has the most work to do and bears traces of burning, which can be suggested with dark pigments at the muzzle.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
