This resin set from Quickboost, a brand of the Czech maker Aires, brings a faithfully cast forward fuselage with a correctly shaped radome for a model of the Soviet Sukhoi Su-15TM interceptor in 1:72 scale. It is not an airplane model but a corrective accessory for more experienced modelers, replacing the inaccurately shaped nose from the plastic kit with a casting with the accurate ogival shape of the radar cover.
The Sukhoi Su-15 was a Soviet twin-engine interceptor, the backbone of the air defense in the Cold War. Because of its more capable radar, the late Su-15TM version received a reworked radome of ogival shape, after which it was given the reporting name Flagon-F.
First wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue. Cut off the casting block with a saw and level the joint with the fuselage carefully, filling it if needed. Bond the parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate), not with plastic cement. Test the fit dry before painting, as resin may need a little cleaning up.
The set is supplied as a resin part, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
