Masking templates cut from kabuki tape in 1:72 scale for the two-seat Skyhawks of the TA-4F, TA-4J and OA-4M versions, in the EXPERT configuration.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk is an American carrier attack aircraft, famous for its small size. It came about as a deliberately small and light machine and was compact enough to do without the folding wing that carrier aircraft otherwise had to have. The TA-4F and TA-4J versions are two-seat trainers, and the OA-4M is a two-seat configuration used by the Marine Corps for directing onto ground targets. All three therefore carry a lengthened cockpit for two seats.
Templates cut to shape from kabuki tape for 1:72 scale. A two-seat cockpit has a longer canopy and more frames than a single-seat one, so cutting tape by hand takes the most time on it and pieces prepared in advance pay off most here. The designation EXPERT is the manufacturer's own marking within its line. What exactly the set covers and which kit it is cut for are stated in the manufacturer's instructions.
The surface under a template has to be smooth, dry and degreased, as on dust or grease the edge will not seat. Carry the piece over with tweezers, seat it along the outline and press the edge down with a toothpick or a soft tip along its whole length. Apply the paint at a right angle and in thin coats, as with spraying at an angle it will get under the margin. Take the template off slowly and at an angle to the surface, shortly after the paint has dried, while the layer is still flexible.
The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
