The real subject

The Hawker Tempest Mk. V was a British single-seat fighter from the last phase of the Second World War. It came about through the development of the Typhoon and differed from it above all in a new wing with a thinner section, which improved its behavior at high speeds. It was powered by a Napier Sabre piston engine with its cylinders arranged in an H. At low altitudes the Tempest was among the fastest piston fighters of its day, and it made its name through successful interceptions of V-1 flying bombs.

What the set solves

This is a photo-etched set in 1:72 scale, placed among the metal accessories. Etching makes it possible to produce parts of a thickness an injection-molded kit cannot reach, so the model gains thin sheet metal and fine details in the right proportion to their surroundings. The make-up of the parts, where they go on the model and the kit they are formed for are given in the instructions enclosed with the set.

Building and painting tips

Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and never break them out, or they will twist. Make the bends over a sharp edge or in a bending tool, so that the edge is straight along its whole length. The metal is glued with cyanoacrylate, which you apply in a small amount on the tip of a toothpick. Wash and degrease the parts before painting and use a primer intended for metal, otherwise you will peel the finish off during handling.

The set suits a modeler who wants details in the cockpit and on the surface of a model to match the scale and does not mind working with small parts. The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
