1:72 Deck tie-down points, star type are a photo-etched accessory for a model and a diorama, not a kit: a set of star-shaped tie-down fittings of the kind that cover the flight deck of American aircraft carriers, in 1:72 scale.

This is an accessory for building a deck scene, not an airplane or ship kit. The Czech maker Brengun supplies the set as a photo-etched fret with a large number of small star-shaped fittings. On a real flight deck these are recessed into the surface in a regular grid and serve to lash aircraft down with chains, so that a machine does not move even in poor weather or while the ship maneuvers.
The deck of an aircraft carrier is not a smooth surface. Tie-down points cover it in such numbers that they form a recognizable pattern, and it is by that pattern that the eye immediately recognizes what a model is standing on. A diorama with an empty gray board looks like a piece of cardboard; the same place with a regular grid of fittings reads to a viewer as a deck without any explanation. The star shape is one of the two patterns Brengun offers in this scale; the other is the cross type, so you can choose according to the look of the particular ship in a photograph.
The surest procedure is to prepare the deck base first and only then to fit the anchorages. Lay the spacing out in pencil or with a paper template, otherwise the grid will drift as you place them by hand. Cut the parts off the fret with a scalpel on a hard surface and pick them up with a moistened wooden tip, as tweezers are often too coarse for a piece that small. In a wooden or plastic deck the fittings can be let slightly into a shallow recess drilled with a micro bit so that they do not stand above the surface. Glue with super glue in a minute amount. Painting is better left until they are fitted: the deck gets a dark base shade, then a dark wash into the recesses, and finally the edges of the grid are gone over lightly with a dry brush so that they stand out.
