A resin set of three American 300-gallon drop tanks in 1:72 scale is an accessory to a kit you have already bought, not an airplane model of its own.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from the Czech maker Brengun holds three resin castings of the American 300-gallon drop tank, that is roughly 1135 liters. It serves to fit out a plastic kit of an American aircraft in 1:72 scale that is already built or under construction. It is not a model itself: the tanks are hung on the underwing or ventral pylons of a finished aircraft.
A jettisonable fuel tank was the standard answer to the limited range of fighters and escorts. The tank was hung under the wing or the fuselage, its fuel was used up first and the empty shell could be dropped before combat so that the aircraft did not lose agility. On a model it is one of the features that most changes the overall silhouette: an aircraft with tanks looks like a machine on a long ferry mission, without them like a fighter in combat.
First wash the castings in warm water with a drop of dish soap: there is usually some mold release residue on the surface and without removing it neither paint nor glue will hold. Do not break the casting block off but cut it with a saw or a knife and sand the area down on a glass board with abrasive paper so that the tank seats on the pylon with no gap. When sanding resin, work wet and with respiratory protection, as the dust is fine. It is bonded with super glue, not with cement for plastic. Apply a primer before spraying: on smooth resin without a base coat the paint comes away easily.
This is an accessory set in resin, not a kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
