ICM 1:16 Army of Ice is a figure set in injection-molded plastic in 1:16 scale, meant to be glued and painted.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of unpainted plastic figures in 1:16 scale from the Ukrainian maker ICM, carried in its range of themed sets. 1:16 scale works out at a figure roughly 120 mm tall, which is a substantial jump from the usual modeling scale of 1:35: the detail of the face, the hands and the equipment is plainly visible on the figure and decides the final impression. The exact contents of the package, including the number of figures, are stated on the box.
A large scale is rewarding and demanding at the same time. There is no work with microscopic parts, but every imperfection in the surface, every piece of flash left in place and every unsanded joint shows. Figures in this scale are therefore usually built more slowly, with the emphasis on surface preparation, and they are painted with a different technique than small figures: instead of suggesting the shape with color, shadow and light are genuinely modeled.
Cut the parts off the sprue with nippers, sand down the sprue nubs and fill the joints; on bare skin and on the face the surface has to be perfectly smooth. Glue with thin plastic cement and use tape to hold the parts in place. Before painting, apply a primer, which evens out the surface and reveals any marks left behind. Large areas paint well with an airbrush, while the face, the hands and the equipment are better with a brush; on large figures oils or acrylics with a long open time are rewarding, as they let the shades blend smoothly. It works well to paint the body and the head separately and join them only at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
