The package holds forty paving elements with a broken zigzag shape which fit into one another, a pattern typical of present-day interlocking paving on sidewalks, parking lots and approaches. The elements have a real thickness, so real joints arise between them and the edge of the area has a profile which holds a shadow.
Separate the elements from the sprue gates and level the underside so that the paving lies flat; do the sanding with your airways protected. Start laying from the edge of the area and go on so that the interlocks fit into one another regularly; it is precisely the regularity of the pattern that makes this paving recognizable. Paint with a gray base and then set the individual elements apart in tone ever so slightly, so that the area does not come across as one solid slab. A dark wash into the joints adds depth and a dry brush brings out the edges. You can suggest tire tracks with a darker pigment in bands, and moss in the joints with a little fine static material.
