Injection-molded plastic model of the Boeing CH-47 Chinook heavy transport helicopter in 1:48 scale from the Italian manufacturer Italeri. The model can be built as the British HC.2 version or as the American CH-47F. The box holds clear parts for the extensive glazing of the cabin and the side windows and a solution for the cargo ramp and the doors. The exact contents and the decal options depend on the particular release.
The Chinook is one of the best known heavy transport helicopters in military history. Its recognition feature is the layout with two tandem rotors — one above the cabin and one at the rear — turning against each other, so that the helicopter needs no anti-torque tail rotor. The roomy cargo hold with a folding rear ramp serves to carry troops, materiel and underslung loads. The designation HC.2 is carried by the Chinook in the Royal Air Force, while the CH-47F is the modernized version used among others by the US Army.
Assemble and paint the inside of the cargo hold and the cabin before you close up the fuselage — the interior shows well through the glazing and the open ramp. Mask the extensive glazing of the cabin and the side windows with tape and gloss them at the end. Paint and finish the blades of both tandem rotors separately and fit them only at the very end so that they do not break during the build. Use thin cement on the plastic, treat the surfaces with a primer, lay the camouflage on with an airbrush and bring out the engraved panels with a dark wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
