Printed landing gear legs for the Heinkel He 177 A model in 1:48 scale, intended for Special Hobby kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Heinkel He 177 A was a German heavy bomber that differed from other machines of its class in its landing gear as well: each engine nacelle held a pair of separate landing gear legs, because one wheel could not have carried the weight of the aircraft. That is exactly why the landing gear is conspicuous on a model and worth some attention.
Landing gear legs for the He 177 A model in 1:48 scale, made by 3D printing and intended for Special Hobby kits. They replace the parts from the box and offer finer detail of the struts, the joints and the lines. Printed parts have no casting blocks, as they are held by print supports that are removed before building. The material is not polystyrene, so the joints are made with cyanoacrylate glue.
Cut the supports off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder with fine sandpaper. The printed material is harder and more brittle than plastic, so never release the parts by levering them. Try the legs dry in the bay before you glue them permanently and let the joint cure properly; a large model is heavy and its whole weight stands on them. Wash and degrease the parts before painting and apply the primer in a thin coat.
The set suits the modeler who builds the He 177 in 1:48 scale and wants a sharper landing gear than injection-molded plastic offers, without having to work on the bays themselves.
The model, paints, glue and the other parts of the landing gear are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
