A supplementary set in 1:48 scale for refining the pilot area of the Japanese Nakajima Ki-43-II Hayabusa fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa was a Japanese army fighter with a radial engine, known among the Allies under the code name Oscar. It staked everything on low weight and exceptional agility, and paid for it with weak armament and, at first, with no protection either. The Ki-43-II version brought a more powerful engine and added protective items, so that the machine could hold its own against ever better armed opponents. The cockpit is clearly visible on a model, because the glazing is divided up and the canopy is often built slid open.
The set brings refined equipment for the pilot area of a model in 1:48 scale. It replaces the simplified parts from the base kit with shapes with crisper edges and finer surface detail. The model of the aircraft itself is not in the package.
The material is not polystyrene, so ordinary cement for plastic does not hold. Reach for cyanoacrylate or a two-part glue. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder. Before painting, wash the parts in warm soapy water and degrease them. Assemble and paint the cockpit separately while it is accessible from every side, and keep dry-fitting to check that the fuselage halves meet without pressure. A darker glaze in the corners and a lighter dry brush on the edges will pull out detail that would otherwise be lost in the depth of the cockpit.
The set is intended for modelers who build Japanese fighters in 1:48 scale and want a cockpit worked out in more detail. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Check the compatibility with a particular kit against the data of the manufacturer.
