Decals in the large 1:32 scale for three CH-47A helicopters from Vietnam, including the technical lettering.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Chinook came to Southeast Asia as the answer to the question of how to carry a gun, fuel or a downed aircraft to a place with no road leading to it. Two counter-rotating rotors one above the other mean that the machine needs no tail rotor and that the whole output of both engines goes into its lifting capacity. The crews decorated their machines with names and artwork on the noses, and it is exactly these individual examples that are the content of the sheet.
On the sheet there are the basics for three CH-47A helicopters. The first belonged to the 159th Heavy Helicopter Battalion of the 101st Airborne Division and carried the name Virgin Hunter, the second flew in Vietnam around 1969 as Happy Hippie, and the third served with the 178th Company and was photographed at the Chu Lai base in July 1970 as Wild Thang. The markings also include a set of technical and warning lettering, which is easy to read in this scale.
A model of the Chinook in 1:32 is a big piece and every inaccuracy in the application shows. It pays to work in stages: first the nose with its artwork, then the national insignia, and finally the small lettering around the engine nacelles and the loading ramp. The large areas of the decal can take a setting fluid applied under the motif, which prevents air bubbles.
The package contains only decals, no plastic and no photo-etched parts. You need to have your own model of the helicopter. Count also on the large areas of the cargo compartment and of the rotor pylons remaining without markings, so that weathering and wear play the main role on them.
