An injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier scout and dive bomber in 1:48 scale. The boxing represents the late production SB2U-3 version, associated with the Battle of Midway. The package contains plastic parts, clear parts for the cockpit, a self-adhesive masking template, a photo-etched part and a good decal sheet; paints and glue are not included.
The SB2U Vindicator was the first monoplane dive bomber of the US Navy and the Marine Corps. The SB2U-3 version received strengthened armor and reinforced defensive armament. Although it was already obsolete in 1942, Marine Corps pilots committed these machines from Midway atoll against the Japanese force in the decisive battle.
The kit provides a good basis for the interior, but careful cleaning up and repeated dry fitting of the parts pay off. Glue with a thin cement for plastic and fit the clear parts of the cockpit only after painting. Use the supplied template to mask the transparencies. Period US Navy and Marine Corps schemes are suitable.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
