The Messerschmitt Me 410 was a German twin-engine combat aircraft of the second half of the war, created by reworking the unsuccessful Me 210. The two-man crew sat in tandem under a single long glazing, so the cockpit is visible along its whole length on a finished model. The machine was used for attacks on ground targets and against bomber formations, and its armament differed according to the task.
The set brings parts for detailing the cockpit in 1:72 scale and is prepared for the Me 410 kit from Airfix. It replaces the interior, which a kit in this scale necessarily handles in a simplified way, with a more finely rendered version. The parts are not made of polystyrene, so ordinary modeling cement has no effect on them.
First test the fit dry and adjust the mating surfaces, because the cockpit goes into the fuselage before the halves are glued together and cannot be moved later. Cut off the excess material with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down. Wash and degrease before painting. Paint the interior and let it dry before you close the fuselage; the small instruments come out after a fine wash and dry-brushing on the edges. They are glued with cyanoacrylate applied in small drops. The manufacturer's instructions give the specific procedure.
It suits modelers building the Me 410 with the canopy slid back or clearly transparent, who do not want the view into the cockpit to remain empty. The package contains interior parts only; the model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
