About product

A-21m Light Yellowish Brown — AK Interactive acrylic paint, 17 ml

This is a modeling acrylic paint from the AIR line of the brand AK Interactive, supplied in a bottle with a volume of 17 ml. The shade carries a Soviet period designation and represents a light yellowish brown, that is the brown component of Soviet aircraft camouflage. Brown fields in Soviet schemes were combined with green and gray tones; it is precisely their mutual proportion that decides whether a model looks authentic or merely military.

The paint is thinnable with water, odorless, highly pigmented and formulated for a brush as well as an airbrush. Light brown shades are rewarding for weathering — a wash in the panel lines shows well on them, as do light dust pigments, which shift the color further toward a sun-faded position. For soft camouflage transitions, spray at low pressure and without masks.

Use and thinning

  • The brown fields of Soviet aircraft camouflage schemes.
  • Light earthy tones on diorama accessories and gear.
  • Brush as well as airbrush; for the airbrush, thin with water or with the maker's acrylic thinner.
  • Suitable as a base under dust and mud effects.

Who the paint is for

For modelers of Soviet aviation who want camouflage built on period shades, and for anyone looking for a usable light yellowish brown for an earthy palette. The shade mixes well with the other paints of the line, so variants for weathered and sun-faded areas can be derived from it.

A water-based acrylic paint. Shake the bottle thoroughly before use and close it carefully after work. Clean the airbrush and brushes straight after finishing, while the paint has not yet dried. When spraying, work in a ventilated room and do not breathe in the aerosol. Keep out of the reach of children and away from food.

FAQ

Clean water or AK Interactive acrylic thinner. For the airbrush it is thinned to roughly the consistency of milk; for a brush a few drops are usually enough. Do not mix it with lacquer or enamel thinners — that is a different chemistry.

It handles both. The line is formulated so that once thinned it can be sprayed reliably without clogging the nozzle, and at the same time it spreads well with a brush on smaller areas and on detail.

Most often with green and gray tones of the same system. We recommend going by the particular scheme of your model — the proportion and the shape of the fields differ between individual types and periods.

Yes, we recommend it. The surface is not glossy once dry, so a matte frame could appear under a decal. Coat the area with a gloss acrylic varnish, apply the decals and finally unify the finished model with a matte varnish.
