What the set is for

A natural metal finish is the hardest painting task on a model. A real aircraft of polished sheet metal has no single color: neighboring panels differ in sheen and in shade depending on how they are angled and how they have aged. That is exactly why metal surfaces are not done in one silver shade but in several related tones side by side. This set offers the bright aluminum colors of the A-STAND range, that is the basic palette for precisely this kind of work.

How to work with the colors

• Metal colors need a perfectly smooth base; every scratch and fingerprint will show through them.
• A proven base is smooth gloss black, on which metallic pigments stand out most.
• Stir the paint thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles at the bottom.
• Apply in several thin coats and let the surface dry between them.
• Distribute the shades panel by panel; the differences should show only when the model is tilted.
• Do not touch the dry surface with your fingers, as grease stays visible on a metal finish.

Who it is for

The set is aimed at builders of polished metal aircraft and at modelers of vehicles and figures who need a bright metal tone on small parts. It also serves for touching up areas sanded through during the build.

Terms of supply

A set of paints as described is supplied. Thinner, primer, varnish and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. For thinning, cleaning the tools and any overcoating, follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging. Work in a well ventilated room and store the containers carefully closed and out of the reach of children.
