The color

A deep blue with no gloss from the Amazing Art range, supplied in a 15 ml package. A matte finish means that the finished surface does not throw light back to a single point but scatters it. The model then looks larger and more convincing, because gloss is one of the things that alerts the eye most quickly to a scaled-down object.

Working with the paint

• Package volume 15 ml
• Stir the bottle thoroughly before use, as matte paints settle to the bottom faster than gloss ones
• Apply in several thin coats, as a single heavy one floods the fine relief of the surface
• For the choice of thinner and for cleaning, follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging
• Close the bottle carefully after work, as dried paint on the thread will spoil it in time

Painting tips

A matte surface has one treacherous property: decals silver on it, because air gets under their carrier film and is trapped in the microscopic roughness. If decals are going onto the model, spray gloss varnish on the areas underneath them first, apply the decals and restore the matte look only with the final matte coat. A deep blue also needs an even base, otherwise the difference in absorbency between plastic, filler and a sanded joint will show as a change of tone. A light base brightens the tone, a dark one gives it depth.

The paint is supplied on its own. Thinner, primer, final varnish and brushes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
