The eighth volume of the AMMO WARGAMING UNIVERSE guide line by AMMO of Mig Jimenez. It is a publication, not a kit and not a set of materials: the book is sold on its own, and you buy the paints and weathering products separately. The line is built for wargaming, that is, for modelers over whose table historical machines fly just as much as science fiction ships.

What the volume deals with

The subject is the weathering of flying machines - from aircraft to spacecraft. It is a different discipline from weathering hardware on the ground: there is no mud and no dust thrown up by wheels, but exhaust stains, soot from the guns, trodden spots on the wing, paint fading and traces of maintenance are added. With spacecraft, moreover, the earthly logic of dirt does not apply, so the modeler has to make up rules of their own and stick to them if the model is to look believable. The AMMO WARGAMING UNIVERSE line splits weathering by type of hardware; separate volumes are devoted to combat armor and to combat vehicles.

How to work with the guide

• Try the procedures on a test part. On the large smooth surfaces of a fuselage and wings every wrong stroke shows.
• Keep to one source of logic for the wear - where people walk, where the air flows, where the exhaust goes.
• Build the weathering up in layers and let it dry between steps.
• The text is in a foreign language, so look for the main guidance in the picture section.
