1:48 Canopy And Wheels Paint Masks For F-4S Phantom II Zoukei-Mura SWS No.5 is a sheet of stencils for the intricate canopy framing and for the landing gear wheels of the Phantom.
Responsibility details are not available.
The canopy of the Phantom is among the most laborious places of the whole build. The tandem cockpit has two hinged sections, a fixed arch between them and side windows as well, so the framing alone means dozens of small strips of tape. This sheet has them die-cut in advance and supplements them with discs for the landing gear wheels.
The F-4S came about by rebuilding naval F-4J machines. The airframe gained a strengthened structure, the aircraft received a modified radar and above all slats on the leading edge of the wing, which markedly improved its agility in maneuvering combat. In this form it served with the US Navy and the Marine Corps until the end of the 1980s and was the last fighter Phantom in their colors.
Paint the hinged sections of the canopy separately from the fixed arch, because they are often set in the open position and the frames then have to be clean on both sides. Apply the cockpit shade first, after it has dried sand the edge lightly and only then spray the exterior color. Apply the discs for the wheels to a finished rim and spray the ring with a dark matte tone, which suits a tire better than pure black. Take the stencils off with tweezers in short pulls.
The package contains the stencils alone, not paints.
