The F-100 Super Sabre is an American jet fighter of the 1950s and the first American production machine to exceed the speed of sound in level flight. The F-100F version is a two-seat conversion with the seats one behind the other and with a lengthened cockpit; it was used to train pilots. For a model it is exactly that lengthened glazing that matters: it is long, divided into panes and in 1:32 scale takes up a conspicuous part of the fuselage, so the cleanliness of the frames counts for a great deal.
According to the name, two sets of masks for the cockpit glazing, separately for the inner and separately for the outer side of the panes, and with them three masks for the national insignia. Masking from both sides has its reason: a frame painted only on the outside is visible from inside as bare translucent plastic, and on a large two-seat cockpit that stands out more than on a small single-seat canopy. The insignia masks allow an insignia to be sprayed instead of a decal being applied, so no edge of decal film remains on the surface. The kit the masks are cut for is stated by the manufacturer.
Wash and degrease the glass before masking, apply the masks before spraying and press the edges down with a fingernail or a toothpick. If the masks cover only the frames, fill the remaining area of glass with masking tape or masking putty. Spray in thin coats and direct the nozzle from the edge of the mask inward. Take the mask off as soon as the paint has dried; later it peels away less willingly and may lift the edge of the finish. Under the masks for the national insignia, spray a light base first, otherwise a rich color will run into patches on a dark finish.
The kit, paints and decals are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
