A science fiction plastic kit from the Japanese brand Bandai. The individual versions in this range are told apart by the name: this one is Ver. Alpha Tango, and the manufacturer also makes other versions with different designations. The build goes ahead snap-fit style: the parts are nipped off the sprue and snapped together. The plastic is already colored right through, so the model is color-separated without a single stroke of a brush. Check what the individual versions differ in on the box of the particular kit.
With snap-fit kits what mainly decides the result is how cleanly you separate the parts from the sprue. It pays to get thin modeling nippers with a single-sided blade: they cut the plastic instead of crushing it and leave a considerably smaller stub behind. Add a sharp scalpel and fine abrasive paper in grits of roughly 600 to 1000, and a polisher for the finishing touches if you like.
Cut in two stages. Make the first cut a few millimeters away from the part, and only with the second level the rest of the gate close to the surface. A single cut right at the part stretches the plastic, the edge turns white and on a colored surface that shows. Trim the remaining stub with a scalpel, cutting away from yourself, and sand the area lightly. Assemble subassembly by subassembly and press the joints home with the flat side of a tool, not with a fingernail. Anyone who wants to can still paint the model: degrease the pre-colored plastic before spraying and lay down a thin primer, otherwise the paint holds poorly on the smooth surface.
The model is built by snapping the parts together; glue is not needed for assembly. Paints, varnishes and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
