Brass flat profiles 1.5 x 1.0 mm from the Polish maker Aber, 245 mm long, 2 pieces per package.
Responsibility details are not available.
It is neither a kit nor a finished part but building material. The package holds two brass profiles of rectangular section 1.5 x 1.0 mm and 245 mm long. They serve for a modeler to make a part that no set sells, or to replace a plastic component that bends and breaks in a thin section.
Brass is stiff compared with plastic and at the same time easy to work, so it suits anywhere strength in a small section is needed. Typically that means braces and frames, arms and rods, rails and guide strips, load-bearing pins inside a structure, railings and handrails, or the inner skeleton of a diorama scene that is then covered up. A rectangular section is an advantage where a part is to look like a flat strip and yet not give way under load.
Divide the profile with a fine-toothed saw or side cutters and sand the cut so that no burr is left. It can be bent cold, but make a sharp bend over an edge or in a bending tool rather than in the hand. Joints can be bonded with super glue, but soldering with soft solder is stronger and more accurate. Degrease the brass before painting and apply a primer for metal, because paint otherwise does not hold on smooth metal and peels off in handling.
This is material, not a kit. Glue, solder, primer and paints are not included in the package. Protect your eyes when cutting and sanding metal.
