Cut brass with a fine-toothed saw or a rolling tube cutter; nipping it with side cutters squashes the end into an oval. Level the burr with a file and lightly smooth the inner edge with a drill bit of a larger diameter. Glue the tube into plastic and into metal with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or two-part epoxy — cement for plastic will not bond brass. Degrease the surface before painting and lay down a primer intended for metal, otherwise the paint will rub off during handling alone.
