An injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary Swedish Volvo F16 long-haul tractor unit with the roomy Globetrotter cab in 1:24 scale from Italeri. It is a large truck model with a richly detailed cab, chassis and engine. The box holds rubber tires and decals for period markings; the finished model will please a collector with both its size and its wealth of detail.
The Volvo F16 reached the market in 1988 and quickly earned a reputation as a powerful and economical long-haul tractor unit. It was powered by a six-cylinder engine and offered drivers the exceptionally roomy Globetrotter cab with a high roof and two bunks, popular with hauliers and owner-drivers alike. It is one of the classics of European long-haul trucking at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s.
Use thin cement for plastic and work in subassemblies. Finish and paint the cab and the engine before you close them up. For a faithful look, a gloss coat on the painted surfaces of the cab works well, along with restrained use of chrome shades on the bumpers, tanks and exhaust. Apply a primer before painting and lay the paints on with an airbrush; apply the decals over a gloss base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
