Mid Bronze Green is a dark olive green with a brown cast. The designation BS 381C in the name refers to the British standard color set, in which every shade carries its own number; the number 223 belongs to this tone. Greens of this range defined the look of British ground equipment and gear, so the paint serves as an overall base tone and also as a supplementary green on small items.
A muted green stays monotonous over a large area unless it is worked in layers. Brighten the middle of the panels by mixing in a lighter tone, lay a dark wash into the seams and around the rivets, and go over the edges with a dry brush. That gives the area depth and the model stops looking like a uniformly colored shell. The shade takes dusting and fading well, which is exactly what always shows on equipment operated outdoors.
Stir the bottle thoroughly before use, otherwise settled pigment shifts the tone and the coverage. Wash and degrease the surface of the model and lay the paint down in several thin coats, letting the area become tacky in between; a heavy application floods fine relief and the rivets. The thinner intended for this line and the thinning ratio are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging, so keep to those instructions. Before washes and weathering it pays to go over the area with a varnish that evens out the sheen and protects the finish.
Thinner, varnishes and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
