About product

BSC No. 34 Slate — AK Interactive acrylic paint, 17 ml

This is a modeling acrylic paint from the AFV line of the Spanish brand AK Interactive, supplied in a bottle with a volume of 17 ml. The designation BSC refers to the British system of standard shades, in which the number 34 is carried by the color Slate — a dark gray-green with a slate cast. British military equipment was painted during the Second World War precisely according to these standardized shades, and Slate is one of those that modelers need most often, among other places in the desert camouflage schemes of the North African theater.

The shade is fairly dark and cool, so on a model it works excellently as a contrasting field next to light sandy colors. The paint is thinnable with water, odorless and highly pigmented. The transitions between the fields of a camouflage can be sprayed freehand with this line; if you need sharp edges, use masking tape or masking putty.

Use and thinning

  • The camouflage fields of British and Allied vehicles of the Second World War.
  • A dark contrasting tone in combination with sandy and gray shades.
  • Brush as well as airbrush; for the airbrush, thin with water or with the maker's acrylic thinner.
  • Suitable for gear, tarpaulins and accessories in a diorama too.

Who the paint is for

For modelers of British and Allied equipment who want to work with standardized shades instead of mixtures mixed by guesswork. It also finds use wherever a dark cool gray-green is needed — for tools, crates or period gear in a diorama.

A water-based acrylic paint. Shake the bottle thoroughly before use and close it carefully after work. Clean the airbrush and brushes straight after finishing, while the paint has not yet dried. When spraying, work in a ventilated room and do not breathe in the aerosol. Keep out of the reach of children and away from food.

FAQ

It refers to the British system of standard shades according to which military equipment was painted. The number 34 is the serial designation of the particular color Slate in that system.

Clean water or AK Interactive acrylic thinner. For the airbrush it is thinned to roughly the consistency of milk; for a brush a few drops are usually enough. Do not mix it with lacquer or enamel thinners — that is a different chemistry.

It handles both. The line is formulated so that once thinned it can be sprayed reliably without clogging the nozzle, and at the same time it spreads well with a brush on smaller areas and on detail.

Yes, we recommend it. The surface is not glossy once dry, so a matte frame could appear under a decal. Coat the area with a gloss acrylic varnish, apply the decals and finally unify the finished model with a matte varnish.
