A free-flight all-balsa glider from Pelikan that is launched with the rubber catapult supplied. It carries a small model of a space shuttle orbiter on its back, so it brings to mind the way an orbiter was moved on the back of a carrier aircraft. It is a simple flying model, not a plastic kit and not a radio-controlled model. The parts are of light balsa and go together by sliding into slots prepared in the fuselage.
The glider is flung steeply upward by the catapult, then settles into a gliding flight and sinks slowly. The small span and the low weight make the model an ideal toy for flying in a garden, a park or a playground. No power and no electronics are needed.
Glue the parts with acetone-based cement or with thin cyanoacrylate for greater toughness. Before the first flight, balance the model and fine-tune the glide by bending the elevator gently. Fly in calm air and draw the catapult with the surroundings in mind.
The model needs simple gluing. Glue is not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
