Chibi-Maru Fleet Aircraft Battleship Hyuga Special Version is a special version of the cute shortened kit of the carrier battleship Hyuga from Fujimi. This is not a scale model — the ship is deliberately distorted into a small, friendly form.
Responsibility details are not available.
A special edition of the kit of the carrier battleship Hyuga from the Chibi-Maru Fleet line of the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi. The model captures the ship in her hybrid form — with gun turrets forward and a flight deck at the stern — in the shortened, deliberately distorted cute style, which is not a scale model. This is the version the manufacturer labels Special Version; the exact extent of the differences from the ordinary release is not stated here.
Hyuga was an Ise-class battleship completed during the First World War. After the loss of four aircraft carriers at Midway she went through a conversion together with her sister Ise: the aft gun turrets were replaced by a flight deck with a hangar for floatplanes. The result was an unusual hybrid of a battleship and an aircraft carrier, one of the most remarkable experiments of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Hyuga ended the war in home waters, where she was put out of action by air attacks in 1945.
The build is quick and undemanding. Paint the hull and the superstructures in Imperial Japanese Navy gray and set the flight deck at the stern apart with a darker shade — the contrast between the gun section forward and the aviation section aft is the main charm of the model. A fine wash will bring out the pagoda superstructure and the turrets. For younger modelers we recommend the help of an adult because of the glue.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
