Crimson Red is a crimson from the Quick Gen Color acrylic range of the AK Interactive brand. It is a water-thinnable acrylic intended for figures and gaming models. Crimson is a red with a shift toward the cool, closer to wine than to orange, so it suits cloaks, banners, ornaments and heraldic elements where the red is meant to be serious rather than signal-bright.
Red shades belong to the group of colors where an even surface is harder to achieve, because they are often built up over several coats. And it is precisely here that the timing decides. If you put a second coat onto a first that has not dried, the brush partly dissolves the color underneath and drags it off, and the result is patches and uneven saturation. If you wait, every further coat only adds saturation and the surface evens out. A proven rhythm is to paint one figure, set it aside and work on a second in the meantime, so that you come back to the first after several minutes, when the coat is stable. The same rule applies to glazing for highlights and shading: the time between coats does more than a more expensive brush.
For gamers and modelers who paint figures and gaming models and want a cooler, more serious red. It can also be used for colored details on scale models.
Store it closed, dry and away from frost. Work in a ventilated room.
