WOOD – QUICK GEN COLOR

Wood - an AK interactive acrylic paint, the Quick Gen Color range

Wood is a water-thinnable acrylic from the Quick Gen Color series that AK interactive builds for painting figures and gaming models. The shade aims at wood: gun stocks, tool handles, crates and barrels, staves, ladders and the wooden parts of bases. It is neither a lacquer nor an oil paint, so it is thinned with water or with an acrylic thinner of the same chemistry, and a dry coat no longer reacts to water.

Earth pigment settles to the bottom, and shaking is no formality

Browns are among the heaviest pigments in the whole range, and after a few weeks on the shelf you will find a dense deposit at the bottom while an almost transparent binder floats on top. If you take paint from the top of a bottle like that, you are laying down essentially the binder alone with no coverage, and you will wonder why the shade does not hold. Shake it honestly for a full minute, then turn the bottle upside down and check it against the light to see whether the deposit really has come loose. If you feel a hard cake through the bottom with your finger that will not budge, leaving the bottle lying on its side for a few hours before mixing helps.

Use

• A base coat for wooden parts on figures and on diorama accessories.
• A base under a darker glaze or wash that draws out the grain and the gaps.
• It is applied with a brush; for the airbrush the paint has to be thinned.
• It mixes with the other shades of the same range; do not mix it with paints of another chemistry.

Who the paint is for

For modelers and players who paint figures, make accessories for scenes and want one dependable brown for all the wood in a project. It suits beginners too, because acrylic forgives mistakes and a coat that has not dried can be wiped off with water.

Store it in a closed bottle out of the reach of children, do not inhale the aerosol while spraying and work in a ventilated room.
