A modeling paint in the Dark Sea Blue shade, matching the FS 15042 and ANA 623 standards. The dark blue finish of US Navy carrier aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
Dark Sea Blue is the dark blue shade the US Navy introduced at the close of the Second World War as a uniform finish for carrier aircraft and kept in the postwar years as well. It replaced the earlier three-tone scheme, in which the upper, side and lower surfaces differed. The numbers in the name refer to two standards: FS 15042 is a federal standard shade, while ANA 623 is a designation from an older American aeronautical standard. Both numbers make it easier to compare the shade with those of other makers.
Shake the bottle well before use, so that pigment settled at the bottom is stirred back in. A dark uniform finish is demanding on a model in that it gives away every irregularity on a smooth surface, so lay on several light coats instead of one heavy one and wash and degrease the area first. Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer instructions on the packaging, for a brush and for an airbrush alike. You can bring the look to life by setting the individual panels apart slightly with a lightened or darkened shade.
It suits builders of American carrier aircraft of the end of the Second World War and of the first postwar years, when the dark blue finish stayed in use.
The thinner, brushes and a model are not included, unless stated otherwise.
