An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy armored reconnaissance car Sd.Kfz.234/1 in 1:35 scale from Rye Field Model. It is a kit with a full interior — besides a detailed fighting and driving compartment the set also renders the power unit. Alongside the plastic parts it contains photo-etched parts and 3D-printed components for the finest detail, and decals. With its complexity and its extra materials it is a kit for more experienced modelers.
The Sd.Kfz.234/1 belonged to the family of heavy eight-wheeled reconnaissance cars (8x8) that Germany used at the close of the Second World War. They were powered by an air-cooled diesel engine, the vehicle had steering on all axles and a rear driving position for a quick reversing maneuver. The 234/1 version carried an open turret with a 2 cm quick-firing cannon and a machine gun, which made it a lightly armed but fast reconnaissance vehicle with a long range.
First finish and paint the interior and the engine — once the hull is closed up there will be no access to them. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement and fit the 3D-printed and photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Even the whole model out with a primer coat and deepen the shadows in the interior with a dark wash. Put dust and mud pigments on the running gear and the lower hull; an eight-wheeled chassis is rewarding for showing deposits of mud and dust.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
