Water is the most conspicuous area in a scene, because it is the only one that reflects light, and the eye notices it before anything else. This compound is poured into a prepared channel and once cured it becomes a clear water surface. It suits a pond behind a building, the bed of a stream, a flooded quarry, puddles in a rutted track and a ditch along a line.
The most important work happens before the pouring. The channel has to be perfectly sealed, because the compound will find every gap and will run across a table faster than you can catch it; fill the joints, then, and give the edges of the base a barrier. Paint the bed and the banks while they are still accessible, because the depth of the water comes from the color under the surface, not from the compound itself. Leave the middle of the area darker and the shallows by the banks paler. Set stones, driftwood, submerged objects and algae on the bed; later you will not reach them.
You will find the exact procedure, the mixing ratio, the thickness of the layer and the curing time in the manufacturer's instructions, and it pays to keep to them, because the result depends on exactly those figures. Try the procedure on an offcut or in a cup beforehand, so that you know how the compound behaves. Pour slowly and from one place, so that no bubbles are trapped, and leave the area undisturbed in a dust-free environment; every speck of dust that settles on the surface will stay in it.
The compound alone is supplied. A base, material for building the channel, filler, the paints, pigments and bank accessories are not included, unless stated otherwise.
