The subject

Besides ordinary recognition markings, the equipment of the marine corps carries markings and inscriptions of its own, by which a vehicle can be assigned to a particular branch of the service. It is exactly this layer of graphics that most often goes missing on models, because a box with a kit tends to hold only the factory minimum. The sheet in 1:35 scale concentrates on the markings and inscriptions used on the equipment of the Ukrainian Marine Corps in the years 2022 and 2023.

Field of use

On armored personnel carriers, combat vehicles and trucks of present-day form. Inscriptions are placed on the sides of the hull, on the front ends and on the cab doors, and the markings then where they are visible from a distance. It pays to work from a photograph, because the placement was not laid down by regulation and looks different on every vehicle. Some of the motifs also suit the boxes and containers carried on the bed, where a small inscription enlivens an otherwise empty surface.

How to apply the decals

Cut the motif off at the artwork, coat the base with a gloss varnish and soak the decal in lukewarm water. Once it comes loose, slip it into place and fine-tune the position with a damp brush. On rivets and the edges of plates use a decal softener and let it work by itself. Once dry, a matte varnish comes next, and only above it the weathering, so that the markings age together with the vehicle.
