A carpet of genuine fabric

A carpet printed on paper gives a model away as soon as the light falls on it. This item takes a different route: the pattern is printed on real cloth, so the surface has a texture of its own and the edge can be frayed into convincing fringes. The difference is apparent above all when seen from close up, that is exactly where a diorama is looked at.

What the set contains

The package consists of fabric with carpets printed on it in 1:35 scale. The printing is done on both sides, so a folded or turned-back corner will not reveal a white reverse and a carpet can quite happily be left tucked over a threshold. This is the second number of this range, so the patterns differ from the other numbers and can be alternated in one scene.

Usage tips

• Cut the carpets out with sharp scissors right at the edge of the pattern.
• You will create fringes by pulling a few threads out of the edge with tweezers.
• Attach the fabric to the floor with a thin white glue spread over the area.
• You will keep a natural fold by waving the cloth lightly before it dries and weighting it down.
• Suggest dust with a dry pigment applied with a soft brush; wet techniques can make the print run.
