A butterfly screw is recognized at first glance: two wings by which it is tightened by hand. On real equipment they hold covers, hatches, tool brackets and securing straps, that is everything that had to be undone quickly and without a wrench. An injection mold cannot manage such a shape, so all that is left of it in a kit is an indistinct bump. A separate part returns a legible shape to the fastening and the model gains a depth that cannot be achieved by repainting.
According to the name it is 140 pieces of butterfly screws. The stock will last for several kits, because on one vehicle only some of them are usually used and the rest will serve on further models, on crates, jerrycans or on the equipment of a diorama.
The parts are small, so work with them using tweezers over a bounded surface. First sand the place where they are to be glued flat and meter the glue out with the tip of a wire, so that the excess is not squeezed out around the head. Degrease the surface before painting. A base in the same shade as the surroundings looks best, and only then a dark glaze that brings out the shadow between the wings. A metallic sheen suits only where a screw really was undone often.
The set is for modelers who are fine-tuning the detail of vehicles and accessories. There is no model, paints or glue in the package, unless stated otherwise.
