1:16 German Armoured Forces symbols - part 2

Symbols of the German armored forces in 1:16 scale – part 2

A sheet of decals with the military symbols used in the Second World War on the vehicles of the German armored forces. The product is an accessory for a model, not a kit. It is part 2, so the line is divided into several connected parts.

What the markings were for

Symbols on fighting vehicles served an organizational purpose. They marked the branch of a unit, the higher formation it belonged to and the order of a vehicle within the unit, which helped crews find their bearings in the field and in a column. For a modeler they are historical data today, data that make it possible to build a model of a particular vehicle in a particular situation rather than a general treatment. The set provides the basis for that reconstruction.

How to work with the decals

• Before applying them, spray the place with gloss clear; a matte surface lets the edge of the film show.
• Cut the designs out one at a time and as close to the print as possible.
• On broken-up surfaces a softener helps, and with large symbols press the air out with a cotton swab from the center toward the edges.
• Once dry, seal with clear and only then apply pigments and washes.

Who the set is for

The set is meant for modelers who build vehicles in 1:16 scale and want to place a model in its period context. It comes into play with static models and with radio-controlled machines, where the large areas of the hull make the markings stand out. It also serves well for anyone who has damaged the decals from the original kit or finds their scope too narrow.
