A resin set with the AIM-54A Phoenix air-to-air guided missile in 1:32 scale. It is not a kit of an aircraft but an accessory with which a model is fitted out with external stores or has its simplified plastic parts replaced. In a large scale the casting shows off the crisp shape of the fins and the clean surface of the body, where the plastic version usually carries a trace of the mold seam.
The AIM-54 Phoenix is an American long-range air-to-air guided missile. It was carried by the Grumman F-14 Tomcat carrier fighter, for which it was also developed, and its dimensions were among the largest for a missile of this category. Version A is the earlier production form. On a model it is fitted to the fuselage or underwing stations.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water, which removes the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the remainder with a file, and do not inhale the resin sanding dust. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue, because ordinary cement for plastic will not bond resin. Start painting with a primer, unify the body with a light base coat and apply the color bands over a mask. Seal the finished missiles with varnish so that the detail survives mounting on the pylons.
It is an accessory for a kit, not a model in its own right. Paints and glue are not included in the package.
