A resin wheel set in 1:32 scale from the Reskit brand for building a model of the Northrop P-61 night fighter, usable according to the name for the P-61A and P-61B versions alike. The set replaces the wheels from the plastic kit, as in a large scale it is exactly on the tires and the hubs that differences in the crispness of shape show most. It is not a model of the aircraft, but an accessory. Check the number of parts and the rest of the package contents on the packaging.
The P-61 was the first American aircraft designed from the start as a night fighter with onboard radar. It had a twin-boom layout with a central nacelle for the crew, two radial engines and armament divided between the fuselage and a powered dorsal turret, which on some machines was not fitted. The P-61A and P-61B versions differed above all in the length of the forward section and in the equipment. The aircraft was large and heavy for its category, and a sizeable undercarriage with a nose leg went with that.
Wash the castings in water with detergent and let them dry. Cut the casting block off with a saw as close to the part as possible and sand the remainder down. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Given that the P-61 is often built in an all-black night scheme, take care that the tires do not merge with the fuselage: mix the rubber into a dark gray with a hint of brown, finish with matte varnish and bring the edges of the tread out gently with a dry brush. Separate the hub by masking and spray it on its own.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
