Laser-cut self-adhesive masks in 1:32 scale, with which the markings of the model are sprayed instead of decals being applied. The maker of the masks, the Belgian brand 1 Man Army, intended them for the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Va model from the brand Kotare and lists them under the part number 32DET054.
A sprayed marking lies directly in the paint, so it has no glossy rim and no step of the kind a decal gives away on a matte surface, and it cannot be lifted off during weathering. The set covers the roundels and the fin flash, the squadron code letters, the serial numbers and the technical stencils over the surface of the model, and it has its own pictorial instructions for placement.
The Spitfire Mk.Va was a variant of the fifth series with the Rolls-Royce Merlin 45 engine and with the A-type wing, that is with eight 7.7 mm machine guns. The Vb version, which is seen more commonly among the fives, already carried two 20 mm cannons and four machine guns. The Mk.Va therefore belongs to a fairly short production run, and it is precisely the armament of the wing that makes the build differ from its sister version.
Work on mature, completely dried paint and degrease the surface before applying anything. Transfer the mask with tweezers, press the edges down and spray in thin coats so that the paint does not creep underneath. Lift the mask while the paint is still fresh to the touch, not after it has fully hardened. A cotton swab with spirit will wipe away any adhesive residue.
These are masks for painting the model, not a kit. The Kotare base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
