The SUU-16A 20 mm gun pod with a closed bay and a centerline pylon for the F-4 Phantom II (C, D) is an accessory set from the Reskit brand in 1:32 scale. It serves to refine a model that is already built and is not a kit of an aircraft on its own.

This variant of the accessory from Reskit aims at the most common way of carrying the pod, that is, at the center station on the axis of the fuselage. The gun bay stays closed. The item is an add-on part for a large model of the Phantom in the C or D version. The name states that the set is made by 3D printing.
The early Phantoms were given a rotary cannon in an underwing pod because the production machines relied on guided missiles alone. On the center station under the fuselage the weapon lay on the axis of the aircraft, which made aiming easier, but it took up a pylon otherwise reserved for a tank. Crews therefore tended to take it mainly on missions against ground targets.
Concentrate on vertical alignment: a pod on the axis of the fuselage gives away the slightest tilt at once, so mark the position before any paint goes on. First degrease the surface and go over it with a very fine abrasive. Bring the metal shade of the body to life with a light transition into a lighter color along the top edge and, by contrast, dirty the underside with a dark shade so that the model does not look flat.
Experience in service led to a later type of pod, in which the cannon was already driven by a power source of its own and the retractable turbine on the side was no longer needed. A modeler building a machine of a later period should therefore check against photographs which of the two pods the aircraft actually carried, because they differ noticeably in the shape of the side.
The set is supplied without paints, glue and decals.
