Reskit 1:35: AH-1G Cobra: main rotor with dust and debris deflectors (sand shields), LATE version, for the ICM kit is a 3D-printed upgrade set, not a kit. The rotor blades are not in the package: they are taken from the ICM plastic kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This product is a 3D-printed detail set, that is an accessory, not a kit and not a model of the helicopter. It replaces the rotor head of the AH-1G Cobra helicopter from the ICM kit in 1:35 scale and adds dust deflectors (sand shields) to it. An important note: the set does not hold the rotor blades. According to the assembly instructions the blades are taken from the ICM plastic kit, so the accessory alone will not give you a complete rotor and you have to own the base kit.
A rotor spun up over parched ground raises a cloud of dust and sand on takeoff and landing, a condition called brownout. A turbine engine sucks this mixture in and the hard particles gradually abrade the blades; the engine loses power and ends its life early. A deflector, that is a cover that turns the swirling dirt away from the engine intake, was therefore not a cosmetic extra but a technical necessity. In Vietnam and in desert conditions alike it decided whether a machine would last in service.
The Bell AH-1 was the very first helicopter designed from the outset as an attack helicopter. The demand for it came straight out of Vietnam: the slow transport Hueys needed an armed escort. Bell reached for the engine and rotor system of the Huey and built them into an entirely new, exceptionally slender fuselage. It is so narrow that the crew cannot fit side by side: the gunner and the pilot sit in tandem, one behind the other. That was deliberate: a narrow fuselage is a smaller target. The designation AH-1G belongs to the original Vietnam version.
Reskit released two different sets, an early and a late version; this one is the late one. The sets differ in their form according to the period of service, but the manufacturer does not describe the difference in detail. So do not make anything up and compare the set with photographic documentation of the machine you are building, otherwise you will easily buy the other variant.
Resin from 3D printing does not react to modeling cement for plastic; make the joints with super glue or epoxy. Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap, as residue of print resin otherwise cuts the adhesion of the paint. Always sand wet: dust from resin is harmful to health and must not be inhaled. The subtle parts are fragile and crack easily, so glue them as the last step.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. It is not a kit of the helicopter. The base model, the rotor blades, glue and paints are not included in the package.
