1:35 Assorted Modern Plastic Drums (#2)

Assorted Modern Plastic Drums 1:35, variant no. 2 (Vallejo)

A mixed set of modern plastic drums in 1:35 scale. The word assorted in the name suggests that it is a combination of different pieces rather than several identical castings. The exact make-up of the package is stated on the packaging of the set. It is a scenic prop; the model itself and a base are not included.

Working with composition

A group of drums has one treacherous quality: if you stand them in a row and paint them the same, the scene looks like a posed display photograph. Try working with disorder instead. Lay one drum on its side, lean two against each other and leave another turned away from the group. The different heights and diameters of the pieces in a mixed set positively invite it. What results is a corner that offers the eye a path and gives the scene the impression that somebody has been working there.

Shades and surface

It is precisely with a mixed set that it pays not to stick to a single color. Blue, white, green and yellow make up the ordinary mix of storage containers today, and the variety looks natural. Paint each piece separately, otherwise you will make a mess of the edges. After the base color, go over the drums with a satin clear coat, then apply thinned dirt into the grooves and add dust from above. On a drum lying down, do not forget the abrasion on the body where it touches the ground. Drops of spilled liquid also come out splendidly on these parts, and a gloss clear coat applied with a fine brush is all it takes.

Who the set suits

• Builders of civilian, industrial and contemporary scenes in 1:35 scale
• Modelers who already have the first set of drums and want to extend the make-up
• Those who work with composition and need an irregular group of objects
• Anyone interested in practicing gloss and satin surfaces

The accessory is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and other props are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
