Castings of the sheet-metal boxes in which ammunition belts for .30 caliber machine guns were delivered to the American army. The material is polyurethane, the scale is 1:35 and the manufacturer is the Italian brand Royal Model. The catches and the pressed reinforcing ribs of the lid are cast directly in the part, so assembling small accessories is done away with.
A metal box with a hinged lid and a folding handle was among the most widespread items of Allied equipment. It was carried on the fenders of jeeps, on the running boards of half-tracks, inside tanks and stacked on the decks of landing craft. Crews used it for everything imaginable, from storing personal belongings to a seat, so its presence in a scene looks entirely natural. In photographs from the front it is to be seen even where there is no machine gun.
First rid the castings of mold release agent with soapy water and remove the casting remains. Bring the base olive shade to life with a lighter dry brush on the edges and a dark wash into the recesses and seams. Boxes carried through mud have a bottom markedly dirtier than the lid, which few people notice. Suggest scraped places with a graphite pencil.
The set contains castings only; you will not find paints or glue in it.
