An injection-molded plastic kit of the German VK4502(P) heavy tank prototype in the Vorne variant, that is, with the turret placed in the front part of the hull, in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss. The model has a detailed hull and running gear; depending on the contents of the package, photo-etched parts are sometimes included as well. It is an unassembled and unpainted kit for gluing. Take care not to confuse it with the sister Hintern variant (turret at the rear), which is a separate kit.
The VK4502(P) was a heavy tank design by the Porsche company, one of the predecessors of the later Tiger II. Two layouts were considered: with the turret at the front (Vorne) and with the turret at the rear (Hintern). In reality only the variant with the turret at the front was developed further. The turret growing out of these Porsche designs later gave the basis for the production turret of the Tiger II tank.
Assemble the running gear before closing up the hull. Paint the large armor surfaces with an airbrush, fine-tune the transitions of the camouflage and bring the surface to life with washes into the recesses and pigments for dust effects on the running gear. Before gluing, clean the parts of flash and remnants of the sprue gates and first dry-fit the individual sections; glue with a thin cement for plastic, which joins the seam firmly and cleanly. For better paint adhesion apply a primer first and spray in thin coats, ideally with an airbrush. Before weathering, even the surface out with a varnish and let every coat dry thoroughly.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
