An injection-molded plastic kit of the German King Tiger heavy tank, factory designation Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. B Tiger II, in 1:35 scale from Academy. The package holds the parts of the armored hull and turret, the running gear with tracks and a decal sheet for several finishes. It is a classic subject for collectors of armored equipment, which Academy offers with a good level of detail.
The Tiger II was the heaviest German tank committed in series production in the Second World War. It was powered by a Maybach HL 230 gasoline engine and its main armament was the long 88 mm KwK 43 L/71 gun with outstanding range and penetration. Its heavily sloped frontal armor gave it excellent protection, and the price was high weight, demanding maintenance and heavy fuel consumption. It was committed on the Western as well as the Eastern Front from 1944.
First assemble the running gear and the tracks carefully, and only then close the hull. Glue the parts with thin modeling cement for plastic, and fill and sand the joints if need be. Apply a base coat (primer) before painting and spray with an airbrush in thin coats. You will bring the characteristic three-tone German camouflage to life by emphasizing the edges, with a dark wash into the recesses and with dust as well as mud effects in pigment on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
