An injection-molded plastic kit of the fast version of the German Panzer II light tank in 1:35 scale from Bronco. The model captures the Ausf.D1 variant with the military designation Sd.Kfz.121. According to the manufacturer the box contains richly broken-up plastic, individual track links, clear parts, a photo-etched fret and decals for several marking options.
The Panzerkampfwagen II Ausf.D was an attempt at a fast version of the Panzer II light tank intended for armored and cavalry units. It differed from the ordinary Panzer IIs in its completely new running gear with large road wheels on torsion bars, which recalled the arrangement of fast tanks. Its armament was a 20 mm autocannon and a machine gun. Only a smaller number were built and a number of the hulls later served as the basis for flamethrower and other conversions.
Use thin cement for plastic and work in subassemblies. Finish the running gear before closing the hull. Prepare the individual track links and fit them with a natural sag only once the running gear has been painted. Bond the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush; for early German machines a gray base, washes in the shadows and pigments for dust and mud effects are suitable.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
