The Panzer IV Ausf.D was an early version of the German medium tank Pz.Kpfw.IV with a short 75 mm gun, suited above all to firing high-explosive shells in support of infantry. Some vehicles were converted to a tropical configuration (Tp) with uprated cooling and dust filters for deployment in North Africa, where these tanks fought in the ranks of the Deutsches Afrikakorps in 1941.
Assemble and paint the running gear and the lower hull before you close up the upper sections. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic. A sand-colored finish is typical of the African theater - after the base color, pick out the panels with a wash, bring the surfaces to life with filters and lay on dust pigments. Paint the crew figures separately; faces and uniforms come out best when finished on their own, and the scene then gains both scale and a story.
